ASTIGMATISM TOOLS

This is a resume of some astigmatic resources that are availabale on line in both, web, mobile and PC apps. Its purpose is to aid the doctors to better management of the astigmatism, but doesn’t replace the clinical judgement.

PC Apps

Goniotrans PC Goniotrans PC

GonioTrans is a useful and yet simple tool based on a virtual angle conveyor to annotate the angular position of the ocular structures based on a picture of the eye. After capturing a picture of the eye, it is copied and stored in the program, that overlays a pattern that simulates an angle conveyor with two overlaying hemi-meridians with marks from 0° to 180°, using steps of 5° or 10°.
The appropriate meridians for incisions, the marks for toric lens, etc. can be determined precisely thanks to referrers like nevus or iris crypts, aqueous veins, etc. In the same way this allows to check the lens position and stability, incisional axes, etc.

Toric Recalculator IOA Toric Recalculator

IOA Toric Recalculator is an indispensable tool for ophthalmologists who work with phakic or pseudophakic toric intraocular lenses. With absolute precision, the Toric Recalculator will calculate the exact rotation of an implanted IOL needed for maximum correction of astigmatism.

Toric Results Analyzer Toric Results Analyzer

The Toric Results Analyzer was developed by John Berdahl MD and David Hardten MD to help determine if a previously placed Toric IOL is ideally aligned. By comparing the current location of the Toric IOL to a patient’s current manifest refraction, the Toric Results Analyzer can determine if rotating the Toric IOL would decrease residual astigmatism. The Toric Results Analyzer can help determine the amount of IOL rotation, and the expected residual refraction.
